I think we need to brainstorm over “how we could do instead” to really analyze all our lost possibilities.
Few days ago I posted some thoughts on how we could market Armenian wine in Russia during last few years when Georgian wine was blocked by Russians and, in fact, a market like Russia was left unconquered or with expensive Italian, French and Chilean wines. (and of course some crappy and cheap Moldovan wine). Instead of spending millions to market Armenian wine in Armenia (sounds weird, both from population, GDP per capita and drinking habits perspectives) we could literally conquer a good portion of Russia’s big, spending and drinking market. It’s now late, as Georgian wine is soon again allowed for import in Russia. Read more about it here in Armenian.
Today, I want to share some thoughts on “how we could do instead” of installing road police cameras on highways.
It’s simple, we could install cameras at the places where most of lethal accidents happen because of speed limit violations. Near schools, heavily populated streets, etc. But our “smart” chief of police thought we could install most of those cameras on highways, where no human being walks, where no pedestrian exists. They truly believe they can penalize more and fill in budget gaps more this way. Never caring about pedestrians and lethal accidents.
You can see 40km/hour speed limit sign before most of the schools. And most of the time drivers violate this. So, instead of installing cameras on highways to earn money ONLY, install cameras to save lives AND earn money for state budget simultaneously. It’s not even a matter of logic, it’s a matter of common sense.

my target is the kids… childhood memories are what shape each and every person and if we could instill in them morals and beliefs fit for our country, then we can raise up an army of protestants against the old mentality… The elderly are too old to change (though there are exceptions) and old mentalities are ingrained too deep in their minds… the middle aged are more stubborn in their beliefs and have grown up with certain ideals in certain conditions, which makes it hard to shake them off their high horses… teenagers are much more malleable, but the younger, the better…

Are you saying, that the only reason, why the police installed cameras in the busy crossroads, is to fine more people? There must be some other explanation, no?

I never mentioned busy crossroads, those are fine with me. I mention highways, busy crossroads are far from those cameras.
Like the one in the middle of the bridge crossing Yerevan lake.
